Narragansett House
NARRAGANSETT HOUSE HISTORY

Constructed in the charming gingerbread Victorian architecture characteristic of Oak Bluffs, Narragansett House has been welcoming overnight island visitors since the 1870’s. Surrounded by a white picket fence and gaily colored perennial gardens, Narragansett House provides an ideal location from which to pursue your favorite island activities. A rocking chair front porch or garden side lawn setting offer perfect spots to enjoy daily continental breakfast, lose oneself in a favorite novel or engage new friends in idle conversation.

While originally comprised of a single building, the Narragansett House facilities have expanded beyond the original “main” building to now include a second building known as Iroquois Cottage.  The “main” building of Narragansett House is the original inn which reflects its gingerbread Victorian heritage with narrow winding corridors and guest rooms of varying shapes and sizes.

Iroquois Cottage is the latest addition to the Narragansett House.  Originally built in the early 1870’s, the property operated for many years as a lodging establishment until falling into disrepair by the 1970’s.  Purchased in 1996 by the owners of Narragansett House, a meticulous three year renovation process transformed the building into an exquisite Victorian inn which is uniquely designed to allow our guests to experience the ambiance of a bygone era.
